The atelier

A house of Indian couture.

Aakshi's Atelier is a label for sarees and occasionwear, made for those who appreciate timeless elegance, craftsmanship and the art of Indian couture.

Why an atelier

The word is a promise.

An atelier is a workroom. It is the place where a garment is considered, draped and corrected before it is allowed to leave.

We chose the word on purpose. It commits us to caring about the fall of a drape, the finish of a hem and the way a piece feels when it is finally worn, and to saying no to anything that is rushed.

Our online atelier is being prepared with that same attention. When it opens, you will find sarees and occasionwear chosen for the moments that matter, with the service to match.

Reading the mark

A small portrait of the house.

Our emblem was drawn to say what we make, where it comes from and how we believe it should be made. Each of its four elements carries a meaning.

The dress form
Every piece begins on the form. It stands for the atelier itself: the place where a garment is draped, considered and refined before it is ever worn.
The drape
Bands of gold sweep across the form like the pallu of a saree, the six yards at the heart of what we make.
The feather
The peacock feather has graced Indian textiles for centuries. Ours carries the colours of the house: deep emerald, peacock teal and gold.
The ring
A single sweep of gold drawn around the form. A reminder that good craft is patient, and that elegance does not date.

What we hold to

Four things we will not compromise on.

  1. Craft comes first

The details that take the longest are usually the ones that matter most. We would rather take the time.

  2. Timeless over trend

We design for the occasions you will remember, and for the many years of wear that follow them.

  3. Described honestly

What you read on a product page should be what arrives at your door: fabric, colour and work, described plainly.

  4. Care after the order

Clear policies, a real person to write to, and guidance to keep every piece beautiful.
